Announcements & Attire
Mercyhurst College graduation announcement packages and class rings are available through Balfour.
Representatives from Balfour will be on campus Monday and Tuesday, March 15th and 16th to take orders for graduation announcements and class rings. These items are available online.
Academic attire will be available in the bookstore before the week of May 10, 2010
Check your academic attire to be sure you have:
- Gown
- Hood with a specific color velvet trim that represents your major
- Cap and tassel
If you are missing any item, go back to the bookstore immediately.
- Academic attire should be pressed with a very cool iron prior to wearing to remove packaging wrinkles.
- Helpers will be available at the Avalon Hotel to assist with hoods.
The following tips are recommended standard academic attire:
Tips for Men
Under the academic attire:
- Wear dark trousers
- Wear a long-sleeved white shirt (preferred) and tie
- Wear dark shoes
Tips for Women
Under the academic attire:
- Wear a dress or skirt that does not hang below your robe or a black pant suit
- Wear black dress shoes - heels or flats
- Wear nylons in a shade that matches your skin tone
Other
- For security reasons, do not bring valuables
- Corsages and flowers are not part of academic attire.
